Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is MathTV.com?
A: MathTV.com is a new company that produces instructional math help videos. We leverage Internet technology to bring affordable video lessons to high school and college math students. Learn more in the About Us section.

Q: What do the videos look like?
A: Watch a sample video now! Our videos are designed to be viewed on a computer. The video quality will differ depending on whether you are watching the videos from online or from a CD. The CD videos may appear to be of higher quality in comparison to the online videos due to the various constraints of Internet connection speeds. RealPlayer is required to view the videos. For more information on our videos, please take a look at how the videos work.

Q: How long is each video lesson and how many problems are worked?
A: The video lessons are designed to be short, about 6 to 10 minutes each. This way, students will not lose interest, and are able to view the same video numerous times if needed. The number of problems that are worked out depends on the lesson. A typical video lesson will have between 2 - 10 problems.

Q: Why are the CDs from MathTV.com only a fraction of the price of math videos found on other web sites?
A: Using digital video technology and a standard web browser, we can deliver almost 10 hours of video lessons on a single CD. The cost of CD duplication is minimal compared to videotape duplication. We simply pass our savings on to you. See the price comparison of some of the companies currently offering math videos.

Q: Do you offer textbooks to go along with the videos?
A: MathTV.com does not currently sell textbooks. However, textbooks which closely follow the same structure of the video lessons found on the CD-ROMs and subscription can be purchased on Amazon.com. See the list of available books.

Q: I am currently taking Algebra 1. How much will your Algebra 1 CD help me with my class?
A: This depends on many factors. Students who only use the CD the night before a test will not see the same improvement as a student who uses the CD regularly. Also, different students, respond better the different learning methods. For optimal performance in your math class, follow our recommended study skills.

Q: Who is the instructor featured on these videos?
A: The instructor featured in all of our video lessons is best selling math textbook author Charles P. McKeague. Mr. McKeague's video lessons have accompanied his many college textbooks for over 20 years. Over the years, thousands of students have studied and learned algebra from his books and videos. Now his clear, step-by-step approach is finally offered to everyone as a stand alone product.

For this reason we cannot recommend the CDs for Mac users. Once the CDs have been tested on both platforms and a solution has been found, we will update the information on our web site.
